New Pics of Me!!! Which is best?

Sun Jun 27, 2010, 11:48 AM

Pics of me

My hubby took new photos of me last night after he and my step-daughter helped dye my hair black :D

News

We have no internet at home and :devart: will not pull up on my cell phone :(

Facebook works though :D

I have created a Fan Page www.facebook.com/pages/MaiganL… for my art on Facebook since we will not be getting internet for a loooooooooooong time. I do get to check my :devart: account from work when I have time.

Hope everyone is doing well. This year is already half-way over. Man how times flies! :)

We are finally settled into our new home and loving it
I do miss the internet at times but then again, we are never on the computer now :giggle: so I don't know how much we would actually use the net if we had it

Today is our Anniversary!!!

Tue May 18, 2010, 7:10 AM

Sorry I don't have time to write a new journal but wanted to post that today is mine and Dell's 1 year Anniversary!!!

Love you baby  :icondg-photo: :icondarkarchon:

News

I finally got a new phone that will actually let me surf the net and keep up with Facebook since we don't have internet at home. I've also been snapping pics like crazy with my phone

I figured I would upload a few pics of myself in my scraps because people are usually curious as to what the person behind the avatar actually looks like ;p

Hope everyone is doing well!

Finally moved!!!

Tue Mar 16, 2010, 9:51 AM

News

We have finally moved into our new home

I love it! Even though I have a longer commute to work - I enjoy the drive :D

Still no internet and probably will not have internet for a long time but I really don't miss it that much - yet... :giggle:
I still have access at work so I can get my daily dose of :devart: when I want.

We are slowly getting our office set up. I'm hoping to get my computer back up and running this week. :fingerscrossed:

I will miss this place....

Fri Feb 5, 2010, 7:08 AM

News
I cannot WAIT to move to our new house! :w00t: No more renting...we will own our own place soon :woohoo:

However, we will not have internet for a while :cries: Of course, we will probably be too busy moving, decorating and landscaping to even notice
We will have very limited internet use from work so needless to say, you probably won't hear from me for a while once we move.

I haven't had time to be on DA since we started this process and I still will not have much time to be online. We have started packing and already sold a few things we didn't want to move with us like our computer chairs (they were high backed chairs and too big for the new office) and Dell's desk which was also too big.

I will probably just have to disable my message center for a while but....I WILL be back.... sooner or later :evillaugh:

News

I'm slowly making progress with Poser and I must say that I'm really liking the program :D

I'm trying to learn as much as I can about it as quickly as possible so I can decide if I want to switch to Poser from now on.

New ID and Avatar and Ashley's site

Mon Dec 28, 2009, 3:37 PM

News

I decided to make a new ID and Avatar for the new year :D

I really need to get motivated again with my artwork and learning the digital painting but it's been nice taking a break

We had a great Christmas but I'm glad it's over. Looking forward to just relaxing with the hubby this weekend at home.

Happy New Year

Ashley's Site

My step-daughter :iconlilboo: has made herself a website for her Sims stories. You can check it out HERE
She really like writing her stories and she's getting better and better at them

Digital Painting Groups

Does anyone know of a beginners Digital Painting Group? I have been searching the groups but can't find one. One group I found looked interesting but you must have 3 decent digital paintings in your gallery and the group admin has to approve you before you can join :hmm:

I just want to find help on this process.

Hubby is better and new Blogs

Fri Dec 11, 2009, 7:36 AM

News

Dell is feeling better now. He even went to work today. He still doesn't have his voice back and I hope he takes it easy today. Don't want him getting sick again.

New Blogs

I have made two new blogs. One for my tube sales and one for my friends and family to view my art. Most of my friends and family have no clue how to use Deviantart so they get confused when they try to view my artwork here.

I closed my DA Portfolio because it's limited to the number of images you can upload and the blog is unlimited.

Here are the links to my new blogs....

You can even follow my blogs from Facebook under the NetworkedBlogs box on each one.

I made my hubby a blog as well... Dell Gann Photo

Very, Very Sick....H1N1 flu

Mon Dec 7, 2009, 9:11 AM

Strep and Flu

**Update** Dell has the H1N1 flu....

My poor husband has Strep and both types of flu (A & B) and we are waiting to see if he has the H1N1 flu as well :(

I know he feels awful right now. I'm glad I took him to the clinic yesterday.

He has been feeling fine. Saturday night we ate at Zaxby's and 2 hours later he was throwing up and having chills. We thought it was food poisoning at first. He was up all night Saturday night and then got dehydrated from the vomiting.

He started running a fever Sunday morning and had lost his voice so I took him to the clinic even though he really didn't want to leave the house.

He hit the lottery on his test results
I just hope I can keep from getting any of it. We can't afford for us both to miss work.

Happy Holidays!!!

Mon Nov 30, 2009, 1:36 PM

News

Well I ate too much at Thanksgiving but it was sooooooo good :D

I may not be on here much 'till after the holidays. Right now I am working on a project for my Grandparents' Christmas Gift. We bought them a digital picture frame and I am scanning all of their old pics into the computer for backup and to put on an SD Card for the Picture Frame. I hope they like it :D

I will try to catch up on my messages a little at a time for the next few weeks when I can.....

In case I don't get to update in time....Merry Christmas everyone :holly:

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Wed Nov 25, 2009, 2:20 PM

Happy Thanksgiving everyone :hungry:

Wow I have fallen behind here! I just haven't been in the mood to be online much in the past several days :(

I just caught up my message center but I'm sure it will get backed up again over the next couple of days

I can't wait 'till Friday...we are getting Directv! :woohoo: We have a few cable channels now but there is never anything on and the larger cable packages are $55 and up each month! :faint: Luckily the landlords are letting us put up a dish so now when we are tired of the computer, we can actually watch tv and flip thru more than just 12 channels of nothing....we will have 150+ channels of nothing :lmao:

I had bought my hubby the Robin Williams: Inside the Actor's Studio DVD for Christmas but he has been having a rough time at work so I decided to give it to him early  We watched it last night and laughed our heads off :D

I just hope Black Friday will not be too stressful on him....

Vacation..Picky Eaters and Messy Room

Tue Nov 17, 2009, 9:09 AM

Vacation & Picky Eaters

We are trying to plan our vacation for next year to Fall Creek Falls. Ashley wants to go on this trip with us but there is one problem....she's a picky eater and there are no Fast-food restaurants anywhere near the Inn once we get there. The Inn has a buffet in their restaurant (very limited on the food they have) but I doubt she will eat what they serve.

So how do you get a picky eater to try new things???

She will only eat pizza, chicken or beans. That's it. She won't try to eat anything else and she doesn't like ANY breakfast foods. We will have to eat breakfast every morning before we go hiking and she can't eat junk food (and she's not going to) the whole time we are there.

Help anyone?!?!?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am going to be uploading more photography in the next week or so. I am not giving up on 3D, I just need a break from it.

I'm still practicing my Digital Painting and as I get more of these done, I will upload them as well. Thanks for all the encouragement I have received on my paintings :blowkiss:

"Out, Out"--

The buzz-saw snarled and rattled in the yard
And made dust and dropped stove-length sticks of wood,
Sweet-scented stuff when the breeze drew across it.
And from there those that lifted eyes could count
Five mountain ranges one behind the other
Under the sunset far into Vermont.
And the saw snarled and rattled, snarled and rattled,
As it ran light, or had to bear a load.
And nothing happened: day was all but done.
Call it a day, I wish they might have said
To please the boy by giving him the half hour
That a boy counts so much when saved from work.
His sister stood beside them in her apron
To tell them 'Supper'. At the word, the saw,
As if to prove saws knew what supper meant,
Leaped out at the boy's hand, or seemed to leap--
He must have given the hand. However it was,
Neither refused the meeting. But the hand!
The boy's first outcry was a rueful laugh.
As he swung toward them holding up the hand
Half in appeal, but half as if to keep
The life from spilling. Then the boy saw all--
Since he was old enough to know, big boy
Doing a man's work, though a child at heart--
He saw all spoiled. 'Don't let him cut my hand off
The doctor, when he comes. Don't let him, sister!'
So. But the hand was gone already.
The doctor put him in the dark of ether.
He lay and puffed his lips out with his breath.
And then -- the watcher at his pulse took fright.
No one believed. They listened at his heart.
Little -- less -- nothing! -- and that ended it.
No more to build on there. And they, since they
Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs.

What's with the attitudes?!?!?

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 5, 2009, 2:45 PM

News

**Update: Ashley lilboo wanted me to post a new poem below...

:devart: amazes me....

Why is it that once a person starts getting better at something they develop the "I'm better than you" attitude???

This is not directed toward anyone...just an observation of :devart: over the years and it's not just in one category....it's the same in Stock, 3D, Photography, Digital Art, etc...

What's with the cocky attitudes? What happened to helping others?

Another thing that amazes me is how quickly someone will turn on you.

Am I the only one who notices this?

*** No...no one has done anything to me. Just thought I would state this before I get notes asking, "what happened...who are you talking about" because let's face it...this site runs on drama! :hmm:

The Highwayman

The wind was a torrent of darkness upon the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight looping the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding--
Riding--riding--
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn door.

He'd a French cocked hat on his forehead, and a bunch of lace at his chin;
He'd a coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of fine doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle; his boots were up to his thigh!
And he rode with a jeweled twinkle--
His rapier hilt a-twinkle--
His pistol butts a-twinkle, under the jeweled sky.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard,
He tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred,
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter--
Bess, the landlord's daughter--
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

Dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim, the ostler listened--his face was white and peaked--
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord's daughter--
The landlord's black-eyed daughter;
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say:

"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart; I'm after a prize tonight,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light.
Yet if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."

He stood upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair in the casement! His face burnt like a brand
As the sweet black waves of perfume came tumbling o'er his breast,
Then he kissed its waves in the moonlight
(O sweet black waves in the moonlight!),
And he tugged at his reins in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.

He did not come in the dawning; he did not come at noon.
And out of the tawny sunset, before the rise of the moon,
When the road was a gypsy's ribbon over the purple moor,
The redcoat troops came marching--
Marching--marching--
King George's men came marching, up to the old inn-door.

They said no word to the landlord; they drank his ale instead,
But they gagged his daughter and bound her to the foot of her narrow bed.
Two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets by their side;
There was Death at every window,
And Hell at one dark window,
For Bess could see, through her casement, the road that he would ride.

They had bound her up at attention, with many a sniggering jest!
They had tied a rifle beside her, with the barrel beneath her breast!
"Now keep good watch!" and they kissed her. She heard the dead man say,
"Look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though Hell should bar the way."

She twisted her hands behind her, but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like years,
Till, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

The tip of one finger touched it, she strove no more for the rest;
Up, she stood up at attention, with the barrel beneath her breast.
She would not risk their hearing, she would not strive again,
For the road lay bare in the moonlight,
Blank and bare in the moonlight,
And the blood in her veins, in the moonlight, throbbed to her love's refrain.

Tlot tlot, tlot tlot! Had they heard it? The horse-hooves, ringing clear;
Tlot tlot, tlot tlot, in the distance! Were they deaf that they did not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding--
Riding--riding--
The redcoats looked to their priming! She stood up straight and still.

Tlot tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment, she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight--
Her musket shattered the moonlight--
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him--with her death.

He turned, he spurred to the West; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o'er the casement, drenched in her own red blood!
Not till the dawn did he hear it, and his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
Blood-red were his spurs in the golden noon, wine-red was his velvet coat
When they shot him down in the highway,
Down like a dog in the highway,
And he lay in his blood in the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.

And still on a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a gypsy's ribbon looping the purple moor,
The highwayman comes riding--
Riding--riding--
The highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard,
He taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred,
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter--
Bess, the landlord's daughter--
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

News

If anyone can help me with learning Digital Painting...I need it badly. I have been reading books, watching Youtube tutorials, studying digital paintings and even tried a few things but I really just don't know where the best place to start is. If I could figure out where to start, I could probably take off from there.

They make it look sooo easy :cries:

I don't like Corel Painter so I use PhotoShop CS3 with my Waccom Tablet.

I need a "jumping off" point. :please:

Richard Cory

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean-favoured and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good Morning!" and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich, yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine -- we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked and waited for the light,
And went without the meat and cursed the bread,
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet in his head.

I am so :excited:!!! I just ordered me a new camera :w00t:

The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS Digital Camera :D www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product…

Technically, I already have a good camera (Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi) but Dell DG-Photo uses it more than I get to ;p

My little Nikon camera does ok but I want better quality.

I might even start uploading more photography once this camera comes in since the Digital Painting is taking a little while to figure out. I'm having fun with it though :D

There Is Another Sky

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

Where the Sidewalk Ends

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

Photo Trip and The Land of Nod...

News

I had an exciting weekend with my hubby DG-Photo and Ashley lilboo :D
We went to Old Stone Fort Park and Dell took some amazing shots!

We are sore today from all that hiking and carrying the camera equipment :faint:
So now I am off to The Land Of Nod

The Land Of Nod

From breakfast on through all the day
At home among my friends I stay,
But every night I go abroad
Afar into the land of Nod.

All by myself I have to go,
With none to tell me what to do —
All alone beside the streams
And up the mountain-sides of dreams.

The strangest things are there for me,
Both things to eat and things to see,
And many frightening sights abroad
Till morning in the land of Nod.

Try as I like to find the way,
I never can get back by day,
Nor can remember plain and clear
The curious music that I hear.
